Becoming an at home educator has definitely been a self improvement journey. Not only did I get to see my strengths, my self-discipline was definitely on display and I did not like what I saw!

I also learned that my patience and teaching strategies needed some work to.

But I’m so glad I didn’t give up! My kids have never attended school, so I’ve always strived to give them at minimum the basics:

1. Can you read?

2. Can you comprehend?

3. Can you follow directions?

4. Can you use critical thinking?

These were the basics for me on top of reviewing where they should be in their state grade level.

If you are thinking about becoming an at home educator, or you are just looking for camaraderie on your home educator journey, then we are here to say you are not alone.

I started this blog to share my strengths and strategies as well as document my my ability to get disciplined as a SAHM – Mompreneur – Home Educator. I also understood that what I wanted to teach my kids as part of our home education experience was not traditional to the public school system.

I want them to learn about the chakras, and how to tune into their body, mind and spirit to help master their self-awareness every day. I want us to study and live our life based on the principles of Kwanzaa everyday.

And most importantly beyond on the core subjects, I really wanted them to get in tune with who they are without the noise of the world and with a lot less friction.

Will this journey allow them to become outstanding human beings? Who knows?! But I do believe they will be authentic to their wants, their needs, and their goals.

Let me know about your home educator journey, and your reason for choosing to become one in the comments below.
